Shin-Line Group and AFoCO Sign Memorandum on Green Ecosystem Development

Shin-Line Group and the Asian Forest Cooperation Organization (AFoCO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at advancing environmental and forest restoration initiatives in the Almaty Region. The document was signed in Seoul.

The agreement brings together AFoCO’s international expertise in sustainable forest management and Shin-Line Group’s environmental initiatives. The partnership will focus on the conservation and restoration of forest resources, the development of green ecosystems, biodiversity protection, and enhancing the region’s climate resilience.

As part of the partnership, the parties plan to develop projects focused on growing and planting valuable and relict tree species, including ginkgo. They also intend to implement joint environmental programs, introduce advanced forest restoration technologies, and establish research and educational facilities.

Andrey Shin, President of Shin-Line Group, said:

“Environmental issues are something we need to think about today. In business, it is not enough simply to produce a product — it is important to understand what we will leave behind. Shin-Line has already planted half a million ginkgo trees and other valuable species, while AFoCO has extensive international expertise in forest restoration. Our task, together with the Akimat, is to bring these resources together, introduce the world’s best practices to the Almaty Region, and develop a practical project that will benefit the natural environment of our region. We have a clear goal, and we will continue working toward it.”

The five-year memorandum will serve as a foundation for the development and implementation of large-scale environmental and forest restoration projects in the Almaty Region.

Government authorities and relevant regional organizations are expected to be involved in the implementation of the environmental initiatives. The cooperation will also facilitate the exchange of international expertise and the introduction of modern approaches to restoring and developing green ecosystems in Kazakhstan.
